Environmental Review Score: 3 out of 6 (Amber) (May 21) ► 3 out of 6 (Amber) (Oct 21)
Our school has some things in place to manage how we use water, including taps that are self-stopping so we reduce the amount of water we use or waste. Everyone is encouraged to have a reusable water bottle that can be refilled, and we try to avoid using single use plastic cups in school when people have forgotten their drink. We teach children about places in the world where there is no clean water and water is a really precious resource, including in collective worship and Picture News. We know there are some things we need to be doing better.
Actions:
- Investigate whether the toilets have water "hippos" and can be made more efficient
- Gain access to the school water meter to monitor our usage
Progress:
- United Utility Workshop in Y4 looking at how we can save water. (July 2021)
Y4 had a virtual visitor in July as United Utilities helped to deepen their understanding of the Water Cycle, how we get clean water in our taps and how to save water. There are lots of ideas for us to share across school and make sure we are all saving this precious resource.
